About the destination

About Mukhrani

Mukhrani is a historic village in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, associated with the Bagrationi-Mukhrani branch of Georgia’s royal family. The village’s name is linked to the Georgian word for oak, reflecting the oak trees traditionally found in the surrounding area. Mukhrani also has much older roots and was an important commercial settlement during antiquity.

The destination is best known for Château Mukhrani, a royal estate combining a historic palace, vineyards, winery and wine cellars. Visitors can join a guided estate tour, taste wines produced in the Kartli region and enjoy Georgian cuisine in an elegant countryside setting. Mukhrani Fortress and nearby archaeological monuments add history and architecture to the wine experience, making Mukhrani suitable for a half-day or full-day trip from Tbilisi or Mtskheta.
