About Telavi Museum of History and Ethnography

The Telavi Museum of History and Ethnography is commonly known as King Erekle’s Museum. Its complex contains the royal palace, historic churches, the former residence of King Archil II, a royal bath, defensive walls and an underground passage.

The museum holds more than 67,000 objects, including archaeological materials, ethnographic collections, coins, manuscripts, paintings and belongings of the royal family. The art collection includes works by notable Georgian and international painters.

The museum provides an excellent introduction to the history of Telavi and Kakheti before visitors continue to the region’s monasteries, estates and wine villages.
