Europe Square is one of Batumi’s most attractive public spaces. The square is surrounded by restored historic façades, cafés and notable architectural details. At its centre stands the statue of Medea holding the Golden Fleece, a reference to the ancient myth of Jason and the Argonauts and the history of Colchis. The nearby Astronomical Clock provides additional visual interest and displays several forms of astronomical information.
