About this place
Bodbe Monastery is located a short drive from Sighnaghi and is closely associated with Saint Nino, who played a central role in the Christianisation of Georgia. According to Georgian religious tradition, Saint Nino is buried at the monastery. The complex includes churches, monastic buildings, landscaped gardens and viewpoints overlooking the Alazani Valley. It remains an active convent and pilgrimage destination, so visitors should wear respectful clothing and behave quietly.
