Sighnaghi/Place
A historic church built inside one of the largest towers of Sighnaghi’s defensive wall.
About this place
St. Stephen’s Church is located within the largest defensive tower of Sighnaghi Fortress, traditionally known as the King’s or Kiziki Bulwark. The church’s position inside the fortification makes it one of the town’s most unusual architectural landmarks. Visitors can combine the church with a walk along the nearby fortress wall and viewing platform. The elevated setting provides excellent photographic views of Sighnaghi and the surrounding Kakhetian landscape.
