Firs Time Visit
A six-day cultural journey through Georgia, combining Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Gori, Uplistsikhe, Borjomi, Akhaltsikhe and Vardzia with historic cities, ancient monasteries, fortresses and cave settlements.

Akhaltsikhe/Place
The modern central district of Akhaltsikhe, featuring public spaces, local restaurants, shops and views toward Rabati Castle.
About this place
The Potskhovi River divides Akhaltsikhe between its older Rabati district and the newer part of the city, which began developing during the 19th century. The modern centre contains municipal buildings, shops, cafés, restaurants and public spaces.
A short walk through central Akhaltsikhe provides a contrast with the medieval atmosphere of Rabati and introduces visitors to contemporary life in Samtskhe-Javakheti. The city centre is also a convenient location for tasting traditional Meskhetian cuisine.
