About Samtskhe-Javakheti History Museum
The Samtskhe-Javakheti History Museum is located inside the former palace of the Jakeli family within Rabati Castle. Its collection contains more than 25,000 objects connected with the history and culture of Meskheti and the wider Samtskhe-Javakheti region.
The museum presents archaeological discoveries, manuscripts, early printed materials, stone inscriptions, traditional carpets, coins and ethnographic objects. The collection spans a long period, beginning with prehistoric settlement and continuing through the medieval and later history of southern Georgia.
