Kazbegi/Place
A 14th-century mountain church standing high above Stepantsminda, with panoramic views of Mount Kazbegi and the Caucasus.
About this place
Gergeti Trinity Church is the best-known landmark of the Kazbegi region. Situated at approximately 2,200 metres above sea level, the church stands on a high ridge overlooking Stepantsminda. Its isolated mountain setting and the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kazbegi make it one of Georgia’s most photographed locations. Visitors can reach the church by vehicle or follow an uphill walking route from Stepantsminda. As it remains an active religious site, respectful clothing and behaviour are required.
