About this place
Mount Kazbegi, known in Georgian as Mkinvartsveri, is one of the highest and most recognisable peaks in Georgia. Rising to approximately 5,054 metres, the mountain dominates the landscape around Stepantsminda and forms the famous background behind Gergeti Trinity Church. It is popular with experienced climbers and mountaineers, but ordinary visitors can enjoy impressive views from the town, Gergeti and several nearby valleys. Climbing the mountain requires appropriate equipment, experience and a professional mountain guide.
