About this place

About Truso Valley

Truso Valley is a scenic high-altitude valley west of Stepantsminda. Its landscape includes mineral springs, colourful travertine formations, the Abano mineral lake, old villages, stone towers and the ruins of Zakagori Fortress. The valley can be explored on foot or by suitable off-road vehicle, depending on the route and conditions. Because part of the area lies close to the border zone, visitors should carry identification, and access beyond certain points may require permission. A full day should be allowed for the excursion.
