Mestia/Place
A solitary stone tower standing on a rock beside the Enguri River and connected with a tragic local love story.
About this place
The Tower of Love is located beside the route from Mestia toward Ushguli. The three-level stone tower stands on a large rock in the Enguri River and is reached by a short stop from the road.
According to local legend, a woman named Miaguli lived in the tower after losing the man she loved. The story has made the site one of the best-known folklore landmarks in Svaneti. Visitors should take care when climbing inside, as the internal stairs are steep.
