About this route

This nine-day private tour offers an extensive journey through Georgia’s historic cities, western regions and remote mountain communities.

The programme begins in Tbilisi with a walking tour through Freedom Square, Old Tbilisi and the Mother of Georgia Monument. Guests then continue to Mtskheta, visiting Jvari Monaster. The route is organised geographically to avoid unnecessary backtracking.

The journey continues to Gori, where guests visit the Stalin Museum, Stalin’s childhood house. Afterwards, the tour proceeds to Uplistsikhe, one of Georgia’s oldest rock-cut settlements, before travelling west to Kutaisi.

In Kutaisi, the programme includes Gelati and Motsameta monasteries, Bagrati Cathedral and the city’s historic centre. Guests then continue to Martvili, where they explore Martvili Canyon, nearby natural landscapes, Kaghu Waterfall.

The Racha section combines Tskhrajvari Viewpoint, Nikortsminda Cathedral, Ambrolauri, a local winery and Barakoni Church. Visitors can enjoy regional wine, medieval architecture and panoramic views of the Rioni Valley before continuing through the mountains toward Upper Svaneti.

In Mestia, guests walk through Seti Square and the town’s historic neighbourhoods, see traditional Svan towers and visit the Margiani House Museum, Mikheil Khergiani Museum and Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography. When operating conditions permit, the programme also includes the Hatsvali cable car and Zuruldi panoramic viewpoint.

The final cultural section takes place in Ushguli, where visitors explore traditional towers and houses, viewpoints toward Mount Shkhara and the Enguri Valley. After lunch, the group begins the long return journey to Tbilisi, followed by an airport transfer on the final day.
